Default Urine specimen cups

Just out of curiosity can I use these for tad pole rearing?
If so do I need to put air holes in them on top ? or something like that?
I know they are kinda small but I figure since I am able to get them it wouldnt hurt to ask. Atleast I know they are sterile

Why not? I think they'd be fine, but I do think a single airhole would probably be a good idea.

Im personally now a fan of the cube sterlite containers with the flip-top you can buy at wal-mart for .97. They are clear, and allow light in for algae/plant growth (I use algae and duckweed). You can also write on the top with a dry erase marker to keep track of the birthdate and species, and erase it later for a new tad. They also stack easy, and hold a decent amount of water.

Hi, yes urine cups are fine, I use them for vent tads, I would put a little hole for ventilation and I put them in tanks for self rearing, like in the photo(vitattus tank). I use 18 cups per 20 gal horozontal. I have kept azureus, cobalts, and greensips like that. I had moderate success, but I am just in it for the hobby, so not to worried about production. Survival of the fittest!

Those would also be great because when they are ready to morph, all you have to do is tilt it and create dry land for them to crawl up on to.
Cool Zach

Odd... I was thinking the opposite when I saw the photo. You would have to put it on a severe angle to create any appreciable amount of "land"... to the point that it would be fairly unstable on that angle. I think the strength of rectangular Sterilites is that they form "land" faster/easier on a <2" end prop.

Maybe so, but you would not have to have the water as deep as in the pics. Then it would tilt just fine.

Frogmanroth: Do the vittatus actually deposit individual tadpoles into those cuos? I've been told (and seen photos of) them carrying tadpole sand then emptying all of them into a single large waterbody.
