Default Springtails

Hi all. I've completed my build for my dart frogs, and I ordered a few plants this evening from Black Jungle Supply. My goal is to get them planted and let them establish themselves, and have the vivarium cycle before adding any frogs.

My question is in regards to Springtails. I wanted to purchase a culture to add to the terrarium, and let them reproduce and establish themselves also. Right now, almost every vendor I checked was OOS, but I am going to keep looking. It seems like I need tropical Springtails because they reproduce better in the terrarium. Lastly, do I just add the culture to the vivarium and let them do their thing, or do I need to establish the culture outside first?

Thanks for helping another "newbie"!

Imo, the best thing to do is try multiple species of spring, and at least one will take off. Also, I would get at least a small culture going outside the viv. You can just dump a culture in the tank, hut get a second for future use. Good luck

I always had one tank and just added the whole culture to the tank. Now I have 3 running and two in the build process. So, I actually run a culture for the reason that I want to seed two more tanks. I always run a feeding station and the mold combined with the leaves and fecal matter keep them breeding just fine. It is up to you on how you want to proceed.
