Default cork?

Hi all,

Just a general question about cork. I want to incorporate 3 or 4 little "ledges" in my GS background for the frogs to use, and I was thinking of placing cork into the GS before it dries. Will the cork hold up to the moisture, or will it eventually become soggy and droopy? If it will not hold up, would thin pieces of shale make good ledges?

Thanks!

The great stuff might not stick to the cork because of the texture and debris that covers it. You can either over spray it and carve it or just spray the GS and then silicone the cork to it. I personally suggest the first one, spraying and carving.

the cork stuck fine for me. you could rinse as much of the debris off and let it dry before applying great stuff.

I used cork as extensions out of my background. Mine are small outcroppings from 3 inches to 7 inches. Mine is siliconed to the glass and wedged in with sphagnum and other corks pieces. Also cork holds up well against water and I have not seen any signs of decay after a month of heavy misting, it's one of the reasons why its used for wine corks. the longer extension only had a small 3 inch by 1 inch base and is a little wobbly, I sured it up to a piece of cypress I also used as an extension. My tank can be found here My first attempt.
