I used those on my snake tanks and they worked pretty well. Had to bend them slightly to get them snug though.

i've also used these on other store bought lids. this lid is a home made one and looks like the one's i have won't fit..

why do i always miss the obvious solutions. i can use the same thing to hold a door down in a vert kit.. I feel dumb.. where do people get these screwed in moveable clips

just got my clips from the hd store. now my question is. how far can you drill into the lip of the tank before you hit the glass.(drilling downwards on the top frame) I don't want to risk shattering the glass

I just looked at a pair of these this evening. The extra parts are for tanks with thin rims, you put them in parallel to the glass, and slip them under the edge of the rim (on the outside).

hope that makes some sorta sense...

sorta does.. but didn't end up useing them. just drilled a few holes on the lip of the tank and used window screen clips to hold the lid down. I just hate having a brain fart and missing obvious fixes
