Water feature is a waste of space. It's for you, not the frogs. And it's just one more thing to maintain.

I know its for me, but, its nothing huge and the tank will have a drain in it, so it wont be hard to clean.

That is just an opinion ... every vivarium layout is different. If setup properly a water feature can benefit the frogs. My tank raised azureus sure benefitting from theirs ... and I'm willing to bet your tribbs would use a water feature quite often if they had 1.

And maintenance is only needed if your running a pump.

IME, auratus are bolder around a water feature. If this is due to increased humidity or actual access to water, I'm unsure.

Sort of relative as recently I thought about if was going to build a new tank for either of my auratus groups I would add a larger water area..not so much for me, but for them!

Years ago, when both groups of my auratus started to breed, they also discovered how to get under the false bottoms. The Panamanian trio had a 20g with a tiny corner pond, and due to my bad construction they started dropping tads in less then 1” water. Instead of tearing down the tank and disturbing them, I opened up the pond area so it was super easy for them to get in and out of the false bottom. To this day I have never seen these auratus so active. They would be all over the tank and would spend a lot of time in the false bottom. Eventually I realized that there was more then just a couple of tads down there, and worried about water quality and food. So I did end up converting the false bottom to hydroton (after fishing out many many tads). I left a corner pond and they still transport to that or to extra dishes, but I certainly do not see them as much. I would bet that they would really like their king sized pool back!

Well I don't see why you would run it without some sort of pump because standing water is not a great idea. How do you keep it free from fruit flies?

It's not standing water, misting makes me drain them about every two weeks. And the tads take care of the flies that the frogs don't eat. Plus the addition of duckweed will help with that also, plus the duckweed has a real high protein content, this helps the tads even more.

Sorry Zbrinks, i didn't see your question til just now. I'm not sure which morph, i like alot of them, especially the Super Blues, Green and Bronze as well as the highland morph. My first P.D.F.s were green and Blacks and the color on them was like a candy mint green. Beautiful frogs.
