azureus female fighting male

my breeding pair female seems to be fighting or beating up the male. she seems to be taking it a little further than breeding behavior. she'll actually chase him down and pin him and wrestle him on the ground. they have laid many successfull clutches. just seems wierd that she is so aggressive. many other of my pairs the females seem much nicer about it, just giving back rubs and such. however this female seems to like to beat the male up. is this normal?

What size enclosure are they in? Perhaps a rearrangement of the viv may help.

My supposed sexed pair are pretty aggressive. ALthough they do have similiar toe pads, does this mean that they may be a pair. ?

like i said they are a proven pair that i have but the female still seems to bully the male. she'll get on top of him and pin him down good. hopefully he likes it rough...

I have the same problem with one of my pairs. she is just a B!TCH, and she usually beats on him at feeding time. They have been doing this for about a year now with no problems and they breed just fine. I wouldn't worry about it unless the male is getting skinny.

What can I say? We ladies like to keep you guys skinny and eager to send us flowers and beg for favors.

Seriously, in the wild where this female may have had other choices, perhaps this particular male would not have been among them. She isn't being given a choice of natural selection. Maybe something about him just pisses her off instinctually. I'm not really pushing to be trite and funny here (well maybe a little,) but there may be something to this. Patrick has recently told me that after he lost his male terribilis from a breeding pair, the female will have nothing to do with her new mate of his choice. I wonder how many times we make the mistake of putting a pair of males and females together without considering they may know more about whom they should mate with than we do.

I paired all of my cobalts and azureus buy putting 6-8 of them in a 75 gal tank full of cover and coco huts and i simply removed them as they paired up. I am not sure if the will breed or not if I separated any of them since they have been paired up for over a year now.
