First of all, congratulations! Imitator are really prolific, so I'm sure this will be the first of many.
What you're saying sounds like a good start, but be sure not to submerge the eggs completely in water. Add just enough to ensure the eggs stay moist. I add "tadpole tea" (water that has had peat moss soaking in it for a day or more) instead of pure water and I've noticed that it really helps curb fungal growth.
