Default Tutorial: How to upload photos to a forum.

There are several ways a photo can be attatched to a thread.

The first way. look down below your reply box and theres the additional options area. If you click Manage Attatchments, you will be able to upload a picture from your PC. The downside to this is it uses up forum bandwidth and appears as a tiny thumbnail.

The other more productive and convienent way is to use a photo hosting site like photobucket. It's free to use, makes it easy to share photos with friends and family, and allows you to post to forums.

Go to www.photobucket.com and create an account. They will email you a password.

Here is a video tutorial on how to upload photos to photobucket. (not mine)

YouTube - Upload to Photobucket

If the photos are too large, you can change the size when you upload. I always upload my photos to photobucket as "large," which is 640x480. You can change this setting by clicking on the "More options" link, located directly below the tab that says "Upload photos and videos." Here you can change upload size.

Here is a video tutorial on how to post photos from your photobucket account to a public forum like this one.

YouTube - Photobucket to Forum

I really hope this helps.

Cheers,

Micheal.

Thank you!

I've always upload from my computer but will try the photobucket method to save bandwidth.

I advise to skip trying to load directly from your hard drive...results are dismal and frustrating...it's why I stopped putting pics on here...
Till someone clued me in you can still do it the old way...

Yea uploading directly from your drive sucks. Plus if you post to multiple forums its easyer using the [img] codes so you can just copy the raw text and paste at each site instead of trying to upload the same pics a bunch of times.

Don't forget, if one wants to upload from their pc they can also click on the little paper clip icon above any (non quick reply) message box.

Don't forget, you can always upload your photo's to Dendroboard's gallery. Then when you want to post the photo, go back to your pictures, view the largest version of the photo, right click and 'Copy Image Location' (firefox) or 'Properties' and then highlight and copy the Address(Internet Explorer) and then paste that text into the Image link box that pops up when you post a picture.

The nice thing about this is that photos don't disappear out of here like they do from other image hosts when accounts become inactive. Looking through old will illustrate this issue as many now have no pictures anymore.

Here are the steps for what I was talking about above with screenshots.

1. Go to the Gallery
Click the image to open in full size.

2. Click on My Albums
Click the image to open in full size.

3. Click Create a New Album if you want to keep the photos organized or just Click Upload Photos
Click the image to open in full size. Click the image to open in full size.

4. Pick the album you want to put the photos in (if you want to) then browse to the pictures (up to 5 at a time) you want on your hard drive. Lower on this screen you will set default titles and descriptions. You can change these on the next step. When you are finished click Upload/Submit
Click the image to open in full size.

5. You can change the information associated with each photo. When you are done, click 'Process'. It will take you back to the gallery to view your photos. If you want to post them in a thread go to step 6 now otherwise you can resume at step 6 any time you want to in the future.
Click the image to open in full size.

*When you are ready to post a photo*
6. Find the photo in the gallery (for help getting to the gallery see steps 1 and 2). Click on the thumbnail of the photo you wish to post, then right click on the larger version of the photo. In Firefox you will see the option to 'Copy Image Location'
Click the image to open in full size.

In Internet Explorer you will need to click 'Properties' and then highlight and copy the Address
Click the image to open in full size. Click the image to open in full size.

7. Now you are ready to post that picture into the thread. Click on the insert image icon Click the image to open in full size.

8. In the window that pops up, you can either right click in the address bar and select 'Paste' from the popup menu or simply hit the CTRL and V keys at the same time to paste the image address into the box. Click 'OK' when finished.
Click the image to open in full size.

You are all set to continue on with your post. The nice thing about this is that DB is hosting the images so they will stay even if you leave and you don't have to have yet another account to manage like photobucket of picasa (yes, I know it's not that big of a deal to some people but to other's it's a hassle).

Hope this helps.
