Default FF's in my brazilian rainbow cage?!

Hey, i have some dart frogs and just recently i got a Brazilian rainbow boa. I was looking inside his cage today and some of the FF's from my dart frogs were in his cage.

I know this is a dart frog forum, but does anybody know if the FF's are bad and will reproduce in his enclosure?

And Second, How can i keep them from going into his tank?

no food = no new flies
Are you sure they are ffs and not phorid flies or fungus gnats?

yeah like frogparty stated, first make sure they are fruit flies. If they are, there shouldn't be a problem. Your rainbow boa will not mind them. How did they get in? Rainbow Boas need rather high humidity levels so if you have a screen top you might want to consider covering most (if not all) of it - this will limit the amount of ffs that can get in as well. Additionally, you can look into pest strips or a cup of vinegar to catch the fruit flies.

i used to get FFs in some of my snake enclosures when i had my snakes next to my dart frog tanks. They seems to escape the vivs then head towards a new water source which happened to be my snakes water bowls. Never had any harmful affects they usually drowned, i would just changed the water out when i saw them in there.

Perhaps they were in there trying to get the boa to assassinate the frogs for eating their comrades?

Be VERY sure you make a correct I.D on those flies. If they are phorid flies.....there is cause for concern

The main difference is that phorid flies are fast and actually "run" on surfaces........fast....

Hey, ya about the humidity.. not a concern. hes covered in plexi-glass keeping it around 85-90% and the FF's are definitely melanogasters. I was just worried about mites or something that MAY be on the FF's. That is IF my FF's ever had mites. You know what im saying??

Please avoid the no-pest strips in your frog room. These toxic items are not something that should be there.

We have many different herps and the FF's seem to go to visit all of them. I wouldn't be concerned, they won't hurt your BRB (got pics? we have 5 of them! Love 'em!). Just make sure you don't let the water get funky with them, change it often.
