Default 2 questions non-related to each other.

Hi have 2 small questions that I feel would clarify for other members as well.

1) Is it ok to have a window open in a frog room with a breeze blowing through?
Keeping in mind temperature and humidity remain fine.

and

2) After doing research on computer fans I see many people put them on resistors, dimmers, cover them up all to reduce the amount of air circulated, but that is done with a 80mm fan.
Why not use a 30mm fan instead and no have all that trouble???

Thanks once again for clearing things up

I dont see an issue with an open window assuming the room temps [tank temps] remain in the preferred range.

I havent ever used a computer fan.

Good to know.
I've heard of window drafts being bad for amphibians or w/e because of I don't know lol.
I figured it could be bacteria in the air they are not used to.
Thx

I use the little fans on my tanks. I just run them with no resistors or anything. You can also reduce air flow with a selectable volt ac/dc converter. Since right now I still have mine bringing in fresh air I only run them for an hour or less at a time. I plan on making some sort of recirculating system though with a valve that I can open different amounts to let however much outside air in I need. That way I can run them longer and not dry out the tanks.

We always have our windows open if it's under 78F. We never have to worry about humidity, there's more than enough here.

Radio Shack or any small electronics place will hook you up. Just tell them what you want to do. They'll figure it out for you.

Never thought of going to see them!
I'll do that and tell them what I want to do

Be careful when wiring them, the guides I used didn't warn me of this. Mine was working fine then, when i put the wires backwards to find the correct combo by trial and error, it went up in a puff of smoke. Sucks to break a fan like that. Good luck.

I assume people who have more ventilation in their tanks than I do don't want a breeze because of the potential it has to dry out their tanks. Just double check your humidity levels and I don't foresee a problem.

Very little ventilation in the tank, it's in the high 70's so I'd like to bring it down to mid 70's.
I'm thinking of hooking up a fan to help cool it down.
Humidity seems fine because the glass is still fogged up and I hand mist morning and night.
