Default Tank sizes

I am still in the planning process to set up my dart frog tank. I was considering using a 40 gallon breeder tank (which I know do not hold water) however I have seen some set ups using them. I was wondering if anybody has used them and if so have you had any cracking problems with them on the bottom from all of the weight. Any help would be great. Thanks so much.

actually they do hold water, very well indeed. This is a great size tank to start out with.

I'm guessing your thinking of the Critter keeper tanks. They are about the same dimensions as a 40 breeder but are made with thinner glass. If the glass is 1/4" like used in tanks under 30 gallons it would be unsafe to fill with water, if it is 3/8" glass it can be used as an aquarium.

I don't mean filling it up with water. It would only be about 3 inches of water total. I'm worried about the combined weight of water, gravel, soil, and acessories.

lol your right to be worried considering the tanks and set ups do end up being very heavy. so where you set them up should be where you plan to keep them for good. but a 40 breeder is a really nice tank size for a small group of frogs. wish i had the space.
