Male Imitators Wrestling

Hello I just seen 2 of my male standard imitators wrestling. lil explanation I have 3 standard imitators in a 209 gallon tank so there is plenty of space. But just awhile ago I heard some calling and then seen 2 of my frogs i thought maybe i was watching the beginnings of mating seein one on top of the other then I noticed they both calling and wrestling one get on top of the other and vise versa so I broke up the lil wrestling match and moved on to the other side of the tank Was this good idea? and this male male wrestling bad? thanks for any response

A little wrestling isn't all bad, someone has to be the top dog even in a 200+ gallon tank! We have breeding pairs that have been together for years and years get into a little pushing match now and then and it's usually nothing to worry about. If you see the fighting presist all day long or day after day then it may be necessary to separate one of them, but with a tank that size the loser should have no trouble saying out of harms way. Good luck with them!

although a 209 gallon tank is large by our standards. Its not by nature standards, if you see these frogs in teh wild, they will go and defend a territory that is fairly large.
