Unhappy Azureus behavior?

I have four Azureus and one has come up missing. I have had them for approximately 6 months with no problems what-so-ever. I have checked all the usual hiding places and can't seem to locate it. Not being able to sex my PDF's, I was wondering if they change their behavior after mating. That is, are they secretive. Any help would be appreciated. Next move will be to dismantle the tank and do a thorough search which I'm not looking forward to.

have you tried searching around the outside of the tank and all in the room their tank is located in?

That might be something you would want to do before dismantling the tank..

They can be quick, and if the lid on the viv was left open for just a minute, it could have escaped.

good luck and i hope you find it (alive) !

Yea, I searched the rooom they are in with no luck. The tank is very tight and I don't think he/her escaped but I'm just not sure.

does it have a false bottom? if it does, is there any way it could have dislodged something and gotten stuck under it?

maybe stuck behind a mounted plant?

It does have a false bottom and man it's going to be a lot of work to dismantle. That is a still from "Scanner's".

The false bottom is hidden by black paint on the outside of the tank. I can easily scrap the paint off and have a look then repaint. Thanks for the great idea.

Post Re: Azureus behavior?

Im not sure as to how your tank is set up, or what size it is, but I have an identical situation with 4 blue azureus, I know one pair is sexed, the other two im not sure, I have them in a 30 gallon breeder with heavy pythos for coverage, and I also have a couple of bark pieces to section off the areas a bit with no direct line of sight from one part of the tank to the other, kinda like a maze with one or two areas with one way in or out. I have seen them wrestle at times, but they break up and seem just fine, as a matter of fact I just got 5 great looking eggs out of the tank this morning. I keep them well fed and happy. I hope you find him soon, I hate to say the worst, but from my past experience with loses , they break down pretty fast with out a trace, so just in case you may never solve the missing part,I hope you find them, good luck!!!

I found my frog and he perished. I assume he escaped during feeding time. I usally do a count before I open the glass but must have forgotten this time. During my panicked search for the missing frog another disappeared but was found behind the foam wall in the tank. I need to seriously redesign so this does not happen again. Thanks to everyone for your suggestions and concerns.
