If you did indeed loose two frogs @ 3 years of age....from the same viv.....I would really take a second hard look at what may have caused that before you make another aquisition. There may be a possible disease issue still present.
I lost 1 yesterday, I lost the other 6 months ago. And they were not 3 years old, they were at least 6 years old.

And I believe what I was saying was that maybe she shouldn't just assume that the OP was putting two frogs together because their names were the same. No where in there did I say that we just should throw everything together.
Maybe someone can clarify for me. I have been always confused by the term hybrid when referring to tincs. I was under the impression that the term hybridizing was used for crossing separate species. Tincs all fall under the same species, but are just sub populations of the same species. They are all Dendrobates tinctorius 'Insert Population tag here." (Just for a disclaimer, I am by no means suggesting that everyone lump everything together because a tinc is a tinc is a tinc..... far from it, just trying to understand the term hybrid in this instance.)

I looked up hybrid in my 40 year old dictionary. the first of three definitions is "the offspring of genetically dissimilar parents or stock; especially, the offspring produced by breeding plant or animals of different varieties, species, or races.

i think its safe to say that this deffinition is including subspecies and populations into hybridizing candidates.

Dylan nailed it, crossing morphs is considered hybridizing because they are geographically isolated and genetically distinct populations. This holds true for any species, not just tincs.
