Default New to Vivariums / Frogs. Looking for some specific info.

Hello all, i've kept many many animals. I have a lot of experience with Tarantula, scorpions and centipedes as well as very large freshwater aggressive aquariums (Mostly Cichlids). My smaller aquariums were in the 180gallon range.

So thats a bit about my history keeping animals, now im liking vivariums, atm I have a 29gallon with a red legged walking frog 2 house gecko's and 2 anoles, it's very fun to watch it's more of a terrarium then a vivarium.

SO, now im looking at starting a vivarium, Im no stranger to forums i've done a good deal of searching but I was hoping you could point me in the direction of a good website or a detailed post on the construction and layout of a vivarium to get some more ideas. Im not sure if im going full Vivarium or what yet.

Frogs:
Im actually not interested in dart frogs, I came here for the cool vivarium pics and ideas, but I know a guy who has gotten in several interesting frogs that id like to know more about. Im interested in Golden Tree frogs, and Peacock tree frogs. I can pick them up for like $8 each from my buddy.

Basically if anybody has any info on them id really appreciate it, size, temperament, requirements, husbandry (Would both those species coexist happily?)

Kinda a lot of Q's, thanks much for reading.

well what kind of features do you want in your viv?

possible waterfeature, background, typography, landforms?

i ask this bc there are numerous ways to attain one element
(LECA vs. false bottom, GreatStuff foam vs. mortared polystyrene vs. fern paneling, etc. etc.)

Well, im not sure yet which is why im looking for ideas.

I could probably mix in a simple water feature, I have a lot filters of all sizes as well. Although, id probably just have something very simple for my first viv.

Thinking simple background (Which I might make of foam, i could use some info on that ) with a relatively open center with a possibly water feature there. Im pretty open but id like my first tank to be relatively cheap as it'll be a learning process and I guess I gotta develop a sort of taste for what I like.

member-s-frogs-vivariums/topic38936.html

here's the first page that was up in member's viv forum.
Basically, it's just foam sprayed onto the back of a tank, covered with silicone, which is then covered in coco substrate. Once fully grown and somewhat covered, has a very naturalistic look to it and it probably a lot cheaper than some other methods.

As you can see, he also used some slate for the waterfall which can be worked in.

For a water feature, I would recommend a false bottom I'll try to dig up somne pic tutorials but in the mean time, countless users have posted their construction journals in the forum.

Thanks, I saw that one I just wasn't 100% sure on what materials are safe to use. I know im pretty cautious with what I put near my reef tanks.

I know what you mean about the false bottom also, I found some other webpages online that had good info also.

Check the sticky in the parts and construction thread. They pretty much have everything you'll need to know on products.
