Regarding the coloring of vittatus, the critical stage seems to be when they are tadpoles. At this stage, foods containing beta carotene tend to produce frogs with much brighter color in their stripes than those not fed carotenes. Once they morph, I have't seen too much influence from foods on their color. Like terribilis, vittatus will scarf down relatively large prey if offered so waxworms or small crickets are an excellent way to add diversity to their diet. They will also snap moths out of the air as will most Phyllobates.
