I have some questions about vitamin supplements. I raise crested geckos, and the majority of crested keepers I come into contact with recommend using a calcium dust that does NOT contain vitamin D. Most of the vitamins recommended here seem to contain vitamin D, and I was curious if anyone knew why PDF's need the vitamin D since most terrariums seem to be well lit with full spectrum lighting.

Also, I've never seen mention of replacing insect dust every 6 months, but that seems to be the rule here. My supplements are both over a year old, should I replace them? I'm currently using Miner-all and Vit-all on alternating days because I read they shouldn't be mixed. Is there any truth to that?

The vitamin and mineral rules for PDF's seem to be different, so I just wanted to clarify. Thanks!!

Due to the glass/plastic between the lights and the frogs, you cannot count on there being sufficient conversion of provitamin D to D3 to support calcium metabolism.
