Default What's so special about Magnolia leaves?

What's so special about Magnolia leaves?

What about using other leaves in a viv, especially ones that are smaller, like Live Oak leaves?

I have access to both and thought I could autoclave a bunch to sterilize them before putting them into my viv.
Thanks,
Virginia

They take a long time to break down, that's it. If you have access to oak leaves, you can use those too.

Live oak will work very well also. I like to mix the live oak and magnolia.

And they look more like tropical foliage than the uniquely-shaped oak leaf. I've also had good luck with ornamental dogwood leaves (non-pesticide, of course). IME, I think they take longer to break down than most of my magnolia leaves...and they have better shapes, curls, and whorls.
