Default Large biotope possible?

How large of an enclosure can Dendrobatid frogs live comfortably in? I know from experience that too much space can be detrimental to certain fish. I'm creating a large rainforest biotope in the 60' x 60' cortyard in the house I'm building. I'll discuss more after replies.

Space would only matter if you could not put enough food in it.

Now for a court yard, I doubt your local weather would fit the frogs, unless you live in the areas they are from.

There was a picture of someone who made a old shower into a virarium, but I forget where it was...

The courtyard is completely indoors. Every aspect of weather will be simulated unless for some reason Wisconsin has a long stint of tropical weather. In that case I'd open the roof...

Anyways, thanks for the quick replies. I'll post as the project progresses.

One possible problem with larger areas is having the food where the frogs are. I guess for a big project like that I'd seed with springtails and think of having wild fruit flies and training the frogs to come to feeding areas with fruit or something. I'd also think of other food insects to make a natural biotype.

The people who I have seen that have something like this feed by just throwing bananas various places in the room. They usually also have butterflies there as well, so the bananas serve two purposes. You'll never want to culture enough flies to feed a room, but you can just leave out media which will help the frogs by concentrating food. The compost of them will also provide food for other insects.

Thanks that's great information. I'll surely imply that idea.

biotype: A group of organisms having the same genotype.

biotope: An area that is uniform in environmental conditions and in its distribution of animal and plant life.
