I would go with fewer, but larger tanks. The difference between horizontal and vertical isn't really much with our miniaturized habitats. A ten vertical is really pushing ground space with any of the dart frogs, even the imitators, that don't tend to use the bottom all that much. Which ever way a tank is oriented doesn't come close to comparing with a natural habitat of many meters up and down and cross-wise, and a ten gallon vertical is like trying to keep them in a tube.
