Default Red discharge on side of tank???Got the pics up!

Don't know if this is where this belongs so if not sorry.
got off work today and this was on the front of my viv(inside of course).
it's a 29 tall horizontal setup with a pair of azureus in it. they have been in there for about a month now. below are the pictures one is from the outside of the tank the other is from the inside with a peice of white paper behind it. To describe things a little better; they are feed daily with rep-cal/herptivite dusted wingless and flightless Melano's. the consistancy of the stuff on the glass almost looks like a fine ground red clay? with little bits of brown/black debries in it. It looks as if it was pooped out?, almost like the runs or some thing. The frogs are moving around the viv as usual this time of day(feeding time) Do I need be concerned, has any one ever seen this? sorry about them being sideways I got nervous and forgot in the rush to get them posted

I can't see the pics but I think I know what you are talking about. I have noticed red tinted feces from my frogs on occasion. I've assumed that it was caused from the suppliments I dust with. Kind of like when you take a vitamin and your urine turns yellow.

What color is your urine when you don't take a vitamin?

Your pics aren't showing up now, so I'm hesitent to respond. What kind of substrate are you using?

hahah, good point!

Haven't you ever taken a multi-vitamin and had your urine turn bright bright neon yellow? If you're properly hydrated, it should never be THAT bright.

And here I thought I was the only person who had technicolor pee.

The B complex vitamins will do that. It gives human urine an oily orange sheen. Different medications such as Pyridium, used in chronic urinary infections as an analgesic will turn urine bright red. Various diagnostic X-ray contrast dyes will color urine blue or green. But I have no idea what's occurring with the frog poop, if that's where the color is coming from. Could it be some sort of rustic mold?

Now that I can see the pictures, it looks more like a slime mold of some sort, not frog feces. You can clean the glass with a paper towel dipped in some straight vinegar and see if it goes away.

While I've used straight vinegar for cleaning glass for years, and the fumes don't seem to bother the frogs, be sure to dry the glass well with a fresh towel and perhaps use a fan to dissipate the fumes while doing this, as it is essentially diluted acetic acid.
