I have a group of 3 orange splash back galactonotus, all females, that I've had in the 135 gallon paludaium for about 6, going on 7 years. They are great, bold frogs, and seem to display a kind of "intelligence" and curiosity, which none of my other darts has ever done. I'm acquiring 3 more adults to add to them this spring after I revamp the paludaium somewhat, just to goose them up a bit and see if I can observe some breeding behavior if I luck out and get a male in the group. Of all of the frogs I've kept, they have been among the most entertaining, other than the breeding groups of imitators, which is a different kind of behavior. The galacs seem to be interested in what is going on outside of their tank, as well as inside, an actually appear to recognize different people. Their paludarium is on a divider between the kitchen and living room, and they will line up and appear to watch us while we are cooking and eating. This is just an impression and some anthropomorphizing of them that has occurred over the 6 years they've been virtually family members because of their unique location in the middle of the action. They will sometimes go out on the floating leaves in the aquarium portion and compete with the fish for fallen-in fruit flies, and one actually caught and ate a platy fish fry once that I observed.
