I also have this lens, and it's actually pretty cheap compared to other high end glass. It's your best option for a macro lens by Canon. It's a nice lens, definitely suitable for dart frogs. Lets you get in good and close. Use a tripod! I don't use any filters, I second the guy who stated you don't want to cover the lens with another piece of inferior glass. I photographed professionally for almost 10 years, and not one pro photographer I met used a filter other than for an effect, mostly polarizer filters. Don't spend a lot of money for a nice lens then put another piece of glass that will dull the image on it! Arg! The lenses are tough, can take a lot of abuse.
