Hi,

Another thing to keep in mind is that many fungi are host specific or at least prefer one type of wood over others. Some types of fungi simply will not take in terrariums due to differences in temperature and humidity as well. We have never seeded any of our tanks and have a huge variety of mushrooms. The main thing to have is patience. It takes the average tank at least a year before it has matured enough to grow them well. Fungi spores ride air currents by the billions and seem to colonize tanks with the right conditions for the given species. The tanks that show the best variety are ones that have been set up for at least 2-3 years without being touched. One of my favorites is a tiny white one that likes cork bark in our tanks that have been set up for about 5 years now.
