Ive grown various edible mushrooms before. Most take about a month to start popping up. Youll notice tiny little pinhead mushrooms sprouting. They build a network of this white webbing underground so just keep an eye out cause it can get thick.
You cant use the ones at the store because they have already dropped their spores. Best bet is to go online and buy the spores you want. Alot of places sell sheets of paper with spore prints on them or syringes with a solution containing the spores.
They pretty much take care of themselves. Like i said be careful becasue given the right conditions you will have yourself a nice mushroom farm with no room for anything else.
I guess you could eat any extras (only if they arent from the wild of course)
