Yeah, afterall, rotting wood is natural, so why worry in a viv. I guess it would be a trouble if you have to add in a new piece of wood or change the layout every few years-decade.
How safe is it to add in stuff like banana peels or vegetable scraps? Pesticides a worry here? I'd imagine if you have a background just stuff this pluss coco bedding,bark, or whatever behind it and you've got a mini compost heap the bugs will love.
